What foods can cause stomach cancer?

The WHO identifies alcohol, pickled, grilled, and fried foods as Group 1 carcinogens that cause stomach cancer.

Drinking more than 3 glasses of alcohol per day increases the risk of stomach cancer, and 1 glass is equivalent to about 360mL of beer, 150mL of wine, or 45mL of spirits, according to the National Institutes of Health guidelines. Pickled foods, especially traditional Chinese salted foods such as pickled vegetables and salted fish, increase the risk of stomach cancer.

Also, processed meat is a Group 2A carcinogen, and eating 50g of processed meat (equivalent to 1 hot dog or 2 slices of sausage) per day increases the risk of stomach cancer by 18%, so it is recommended that you do not eat processed meat.

In addition, excess body fat increases the risk of gastric cancer, so eating a proper diet and maintaining a normal weight is important to reduce the risk of gastric cancer.
