The HPV test is a gynecological examination to take a specimen and send it for testing to see if a woman’s cervix is infected with the HPV virus. During the test, the doctor opens the vagina of the woman and exposes the cervix with a small brush to remove cells and mucus from the cervical canal, brushing as much of the cervical secretions as possible. Before the test, it is important to avoid vaginal douching, vaginal medication and sexual intercourse for 48 hours. The best time for the test is 10-18 days after the onset of menstruation.
