Can small nodules in the lungs cause a cough?

Most small lung nodules do not cause coughing. Small lung nodules are nodules less than 1 cm in diameter. Lung nodules are an imaging concept, not a specific disease, but can be caused by a variety of causes, including infectious inflammation of the lung, as well as benign or malignant tumors of the lung. Because of their small diameter, small nodules in the lung do not cause significant compression or pulling on the bronchi. Therefore, they do not stimulate the cough receptors located in the airways and therefore do not usually cause coughing symptoms. If a small nodule is located in a small bronchus or if there is a co-infection, it can cause coughing symptoms, but this is a rare occurrence.
