On this day, a 30-year-old male patient came to the ophthalmology clinic, his eyes were red and itchy for several days, and there were a lot of peeling things on his eyelids. He thought he had red eye, and bought several kinds of eye drops and anti-inflammatory drugs at the drugstore for a few days, but the result was not good, so he came to the hospital. After the doctor’s examination, the patient was suffering from eye parasitic infection. Common parasitic infections of the eye are lice and mites, of which lice are categorized into pubic lice and human lice. Pubic lice, also known as crab lice, are mainly parasitic on pubic hair, but can also invade other parts of the body hair, and are a sexually transmitted disease. It has a life span of 30 days and dies within 2 days of leaving the body. It is rare for pubic lice to parasitize the eyelashes of the eye, and this patient happened to have pubic lice, which caused an eye infection. The doctor found that the patient had more than 10 crab-like moving bodies and white dotted eggs near the eyelashes, which were similar to skin color and about 1.5-2.0 mm in size, with several pairs of legs. When the body was removed, it was firmly attached to the skin, and the mouthparts were inserted under the skin; there were several eggs attached to the eyelashes, and there were small bleeding spots on the surrounding skin. The doctor cut off the eyelashes for this patient, used tweezers to clip out the body and eggs, and used 40 ℃ hot water to do hot compresses, forcing pubic lice to run out of the hair follicles, and then clean the eyelid margins, and then apply erythromycin ophthalmic ointment, resulting in an anaerobic environment and anti-inflammatory effect. After that, the patient was also advised to consult the Department of Dermatology and Venereology as soon as possible for treatment of pubic lice, and in the future, he should avoid unclean sex, avoid using contaminated bed linen, etc., and develop good living habits.
