Body lice and pubic lice are morphologically similar, and the skin symptoms of patients infected with body lice are roughly the same, but they are different in terms of host site, transmission pathway and treatment plan.1. Host site: Body lice can be distributed throughout the body, and they mainly reside in the crevices of clothes, and their eggs are adhered to the fibers of the clothes, especially in underwear. Pubic lice are often found on vulvar and anal body hair, and can also spread to other places covered with body hair, such as eyebrows, eyelashes, armpit hair, etc.; 2. Transmission: body lice are mainly transmitted through direct contact with the infected person, while pubic lice are most commonly transmitted through sexual contact, and both can be transmitted indirectly through contact with towels and bedding used by the infected person; 3. Treatment: body lice can be treated by topical anti-lice medication or antibiotic preparations. Pubic lice should be treated by shaving the pubic hair, applying emulsion externally and washing at intervals. Patients should keep the skin of the affected area clean and dry, and change underwear frequently. Clothes, bedding, towels and other items should be washed in hot water (at least 50°C) or dried in daylight for 1 day and stored in a sealed bag for about 2 weeks to ensure that adult lice and eggs are inactivated. If infected with pubic lice, sexual partners should be examined at the same time so that the condition can be detected early and dealt with promptly.
