How to see pubic lice with the naked eye

In patients with pubic lice, bugs and tiny white eggs can be observed with the naked eye in the pubic hair area.
Pubic lice are a contagious skin disease. The causative agent of lice is the pubic louse, which feeds on blood and can attach eggs to pubic hair. Most patients can observe pubic lice, and their eggs, with the naked eye. If the patient is unable to visualize pubic lice, dermoscopy can be performed to make a definitive diagnosis. Dermoscopy can observe adult lice, eggs, and eggshells after hatching.
Patients with pubic lice may experience intense itching in the external genital area or around the anus, which may also be accompanied by erythema, papules, and bruises. A rust-colored substance also often appears on underwear.
Once diagnosed with pubic lice disease, patients need to actively cooperate with the doctor to take relevant treatment measures, so as not to delay the condition.
