What’s wrong with a numb tongue and no taste?

Numbness of the tongue with no sense of taste may be caused by papillitis of the tongue, lingual nerve damage and other diseases, as follows.
1. papillitis: the tongue body can be numb due to inflammation of the papillae of the tongue, there are taste buds distributed on the contour papillae, and when contour papillitis occurs, the symptoms of dullness or even disappearance of the sense of taste can occur.
2. Damaged lingual nerve: the lingual nerve can be damaged due to surgical error, fracture, trauma, tumor compression, etc. Because the lingual nerve innervates the mucous membrane of the anterior 2/3 of the tongue and the sense of taste, so after the damage of the lingual nerve, numbness of the tongue as well as loss of the sense of taste can occur.
There may be other reasons for the numbness of the tongue without taste, so it is recommended to go to the hospital in time to clarify the cause of the disease and then carry out targeted treatment.
