What is chronic pelvic pain syndrome?

Chronic pelvic pain syndrome is a condition of pain in the pelvic area with varying urinary symptoms and sexual dysfunction, which may be due to pelvic tension myalgia, microorganisms, and irritation of the pelvic nerves. Chronic pelvic pain syndrome may be a non-infectious condition, or it may be due to pelvic tension myalgia unrelated to the prostate gland itself, or it may be due to an as yet unidentified causative microorganism. Chronic pelvic pain syndrome is most commonly seen in women because there are more reproductive organs in the female pelvis, and the pain is mainly due to irritation of the sacrococcygeal nerves in the pelvis due to pelvic organs, such as the female adnexa, bladder, and rectum, which can lead to pelvic pain. Patients with chronic pelvic pain syndrome are advised to go to the hospital for timely examination to identify the cause of the disease and standardized treatment under the guidance of the doctor.
