What treatment should I choose for varicose veins in the lower extremities?

Varicose veins of the lower extremities are a common and prevalent disease in the country. The veins of the lower extremities are composed of superficial veins, deep veins, traffic veins and muscular veins. Usually what we call varicose veins refers to superficial varicose veins (saphenous and small saphenous veins). First, let’s talk about the diagnosis of varicose veins In fact, varicose veins should be classified as a symptom (sign) rather than a separate disease, because the incidence of true primary lower limb varicose veins is not too high. Instead, various diseases that cause increased venous pressure can cause varicose veins in the lower extremities. For example, primary deep vein valve insufficiency, deep vein thrombosis, iliac vein compression syndrome (cockett sydrome), arteriovenous fistula, various causes of inferior vena cava compression (retroperitoneal tumors, etc.), Buga syndrome, severe tricuspid valve closure insufficiency, and right heart failure can cause lower extremity varicose veins. Therefore, we need to be careful about the diagnosis of varicose veins in the lower extremities. If the treatment is only for the superficial varicose veins, it will not take long for them to recur. First of all, the cause should be identified and then the treatment should be targeted. For example, cockett sydrome first has to be stented or operated on to relieve the compression of the iliac veins, and then the varicose veins have to be operated on to cure them. If the diagnosis is clear, the next step is to consider which treatment to take. There are many different treatments for varicose veins, both surgical and conservative. Surgical treatment includes traditional saphenous high ligation with stripping, laser endoluminal closure surgery, radiofrequency closure techniques and cryo-closure techniques, Trivex techniques and sclerotherapy injections. For conservative treatment, you can wear elastic stockings and take oral medications. Second, which one is the best? Actually, there is no one best treatment for each patient, only the most appropriate one. If the symptoms are very mild, no pigmentation and no ulcers, you can wear elastic stockings for conservative treatment. Especially for female patients, black compression stockings are not only therapeutic, but also have the function of beautifying the legs and adding a little sexiness. But for a man, wearing elastic stockings, especially in summer, is a torture. In fact, there are many medications for varicose veins, but the ones advertised in the newspapers are not proven to be effective. To put it plainly, they are ineffective. What is clinically effective are some western medicines whose main ingredient is European horse chestnut seed extract, which can reduce the related symptoms. It may be worth trying for patients who already have combined hemorrhoids. Because hemorrhoids are also a kind of varicose veins, only the location is different. If you want to eat the varicose veins away by medication, it is not possible. So, medication is also mainly to relieve the symptoms and aid in treatment. The traditional saphenous vein ligation with stripping is the oldest and most effective treatment, but it also has disadvantages: the surgery is very traumatic, the incision affects the aesthetics, and the hospital stay is long.
