What’s wrong with swollen hands when it’s hot?

Swelling of the hands when it is hot may be caused by thermal expansion and contraction, carpal tunnel syndrome, heart disease and other reasons.
1. Thermal expansion and contraction: When the surrounding environment is hot, blood vessels dilate locally due to the principle of thermal expansion and contraction. At the same time, as the hand is the more active part of the human body, the expansion of blood vessels in the hand may be more obvious, which results in the phenomenon of swelling when the hand is hot.
2. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: Because the median nerve is compressed in the carpal tunnel, the blood vessels in the hand may also be compressed, and when the blood vessels dilate at elevated temperatures, the symptom of poor blood circulation may worsen, causing swelling of the hand.
3. Heart disease: heart disease such as heart failure, due to impaired cardiac function, the body circulation stagnation, may be manifested as swelling of the hands.
Swelling of the hands when hot may also be seen in the tendon sheath cysts and other causes, it is recommended that patients with related symptoms promptly seek medical attention to clarify the cause of the disease for standardized treatment.
