Ulceration of the big toe is usually common in diseases such as diabetic foot, peripheral vascular disease lesions and fungal infections. Skin malignancies can present with symptoms of erosion and rupture, but are often accompanied by localised swelling and require detailed examination in hospital before diagnosis can be confirmed.
