Surgical treatment of cerebral palsy (cerebral palsy)

On Wednesday morning, a busy green neurosurgery clinic was coming to an end when a teenager with an abnormal walking posture walked into the clinic accompanied by his parents. The teenager had been sitting outside the clinic all morning and waited until the last one before entering the clinic. The teenager was seen staggering in the consultation room with his stiff legs, shaking his torso to maintain balance, landing on his forefoot (heel not on the ground), and relying on his parents for support. After seeing the young man’s verbal and emotional expressions upon entering the consultation room, I had a general idea of what to expect. After detailed questioning and careful physical examination, he was diagnosed with spastic cerebral palsy, bilateral inversion of the feet and bilateral knee stiffness. The teenager’s intelligence, speech and upper limb activities were normal. Also due to the long-term abnormal walking posture, the teenager was withdrawn and emotionally allergic. Cerebral palsy Cerebral palsy, also known as infantile cerebral palsy, is a syndrome of predominantly postural and motor dysfunction due to non-progressive brain injury. It is characterized by abnormal posture and muscle tone, muscle weakness, involuntary movements and ataxia, often accompanied by sensory, cognitive, communication and behavioral impairments and secondary skeletal muscle abnormalities, and may be accompanied by seizures. Surgical treatment Surgical treatment is only one part of the comprehensive treatment for cerebral palsy and must be strictly selected and carefully planned. Rehabilitation therapy is required before and after surgery. Peripheral nerve narrowing Peripheral nerve narrowing is a minimally invasive surgery, which is characterized by small trauma, high safety, positive efficacy and few complications. After surgery, the child’s normal life, study and rehabilitation will not be affected, and the recovery of motor function will be fast. Pre-operative Post-operative
