Causes of language impairment in children with cerebral palsy

What are the common causes of speech disorders in children with cerebral palsy? The language disorders of children with cerebral palsy are more complicated, and there are three main aspects as follows: 1. Vocalization disorder In children with cerebral palsy, there are more symptoms of not being able to control breathing at will, especially children with severe spasticity and mixed type, and often have breathing disorders. In addition, there are still some children who will not control breathing and will have vocal difficulties due to many changes in the position of the head. 2. Resonance and dysarthria In children with cerebral palsy, the limbs are paralyzed and the respiratory muscles, vocal and diction muscles are impaired. The reason for dysarthria in children with cerebral palsy is not only the spasm of the lower palate, lips and soft palate of the tongue, but also the poor coordination of movement due to the damage of the central nervous system. In addition, body movement disorders also lead to dysarthria. Delayed language development is more common in children with cerebral palsy, which is related to the fact that most children with cerebral palsy live in an environment where they are neglected and have delayed intellectual development.
