Dioscorea alba (Dioscorea spp.)

Mian Dioscorea has the effect of inducing dampness and removing turbidity, dispelling wind and removing paralysis. It has the effect of treating anointed drenching (urine as turbid as rice soup or slippery as grease, accompanied by frequent urination and urgency, and discomfort of traction in the abdomen), excessive leucorrhea, and rheumatism and paralysis, etc. It has the effect of removing dampness, removing turbidity, and eliminating wind and paralysis.
Mian Dioscorea is bitter in taste and flat in nature, and belongs to kidney and stomach meridians. It is used in the treatment of ointment drenching, leucorrhea (cloudy urine like white slurry), leucorrhea, rheumatism paralysis, joint disadvantage, lumbar and knee pain.
It is the main medicine for the treatment of turbid urine, as white as rice slop, and is often used together with Yi Zhi Ren, Acorus calamus and Wu Yao. For the treatment of rheumatism-heat paralysis (often manifested as burning, pain, redness and swelling of joints and muscles, etc.), it is used together with cypress, Lonicera japonica, and Fenghui.
The precautions of Mian Dioscore are that it should be used with caution in cases of spermatorrhea and seminal emission due to deficiency of kidney yin. The adverse reactions and contraindications of Mian Dioscore are not clear.
