Diagnosis and treatment of insomnia

  Most adults have experienced insomnia, or poor sleep. Insomnia patients often affect work, study and life, and serious cases can damage the body and affect health. Since one-third of a person’s life is spent in sleep, good or bad sleep is closely related to a person’s health, so attention should be drawn to it.  What is insomnia? Insomnia usually refers to a subjective experience that the patient is not satisfied with the time and or quality of sleep and affects the social function during the day.  If insomnia occurs, the following manifestations are common: 1. Sleep disorders Commonly have difficulty falling asleep (sleep time more than half an hour), dream a lot, cannot sleep well, shallow sleep, wake up easily, sometimes wake up early, wake up or wake up early and fall asleep again for more than 30 minutes, total sleep time is less than 6 hours.  2.Impaired social function There is often a sense of fatigue, general discomfort, listlessness, slow reaction, dizziness, headache, poor memory, and in some cases, on the contrary, sensitivity to external stimuli, easy to get angry, love to lose temper, irritability, crying for no reason, and in severe cases, work and study can be affected, affecting daily life, etc.  3.Clinical classification There are various classification methods. Generally, according to the time of insomnia, insomnia is divided into difficulty in falling asleep, insomnia at the beginning of sleep, that is, the beginning of sleep, which lasts for more than half an hour, because it is the beginning of bad sleep, also known as the starting point of insomnia; difficulty in maintaining sleep, poor sleep quality, shallow sleep, easy to wake up, wake up and fall back to sleep, dreaming, also known as intermediate insomnia; early awakening, waking up very early in the morning, after waking up, generally no longer sleep, because it is the late stage of sleep Bad, also known as endpoint insomnia.  According to the duration of insomnia is divided into transient insomnia (within 1 week), acute insomnia (1 week to 1 month), subacute insomnia (1-6 months), and chronic insomnia (more than 6 months). It can also be divided into mild insomnia, which occurs less often and has little impact on the quality of life; moderate insomnia, which occurs every night and affects the quality of life with certain symptoms (irritability, anxiety, fatigue, etc.); and severe insomnia, which occurs every night and seriously affects the quality of life with prominent clinical symptoms. If the effect is not good after various treatments, it is called persistent insomnia.  According to the presence or absence of causes, insomnia is divided into secondary insomnia, which refers to insomnia caused by various factors; primary insomnia, which refers to insomnia that occurs without clear triggering factors.  Occasional insomnia can be treated without treatment, if frequent insomnia or affect social function should be actively treated.  1.Be confident Do not be nervous when insomnia occurs, be confident and seek reasonable and effective ways to overcome insomnia, and do not worry too much about occasional insomnia, the more worried you are after insomnia, the harder it is to fall asleep.  2, the most effective way to avoid insomnia is to make life regular, and develop the habit of going to bed on time and getting up on time, so as to establish their own physiological clock.  3, maintain moderate exercise to maintain half an hour to an hour of exercise every day, can promote sleep, but before sleep should try to avoid strenuous exercise.  4, bedtime diet Before bedtime, if necessary, you can eat a moderate amount of easily digestible food to help sleep. Too full is not good for sleep. Avoid drinking coffee, cola, tea and other beverages with stimulants, which are not conducive to sleep, before bedtime.  5, drinking alcohol is not conducive to sleep Many people have misconceptions about alcohol and believe that drinking alcohol helps them sleep. It is true that it is easy to fall asleep after drinking, but the sleep induced by alcohol cannot last. Once the alcohol is gone, it is easy to wake up, and it is difficult to fall asleep after waking up.  6.Appropriate medication According to the situation of insomnia, you can take appropriate sleeping, sedative and mood-regulating drugs, preferably under the guidance of a doctor.  7, comprehensive treatment can be combined with food therapy, Chinese medicine, Western medicine, acupuncture, physical therapy, qigong, etc..
