Does the presence of urine protein necessarily mean kidney disease?

The presence of urine protein does not necessarily mean that it is kidney disease. With the popularity of physical examination, urine screening is also very common, many people will go to the urine routine because of urinary discomfort and foam in the urine, urine protein in the urine routine appears “+” or “+/-” mark, often make patients very nervous. A plus sign or more for urine protein indicates a positive result, and “+/-” indicates a suspicious positive result, which requires a review or further examination. Of course, a strong positive urine protein is still inclined to nephrotic syndrome or glomerulonephritis and other nephrological diseases. Urine protein is actually divided into physiological and pathological. Physiological proteinuria is common due to mental stress, strenuous exercise, sudden changes in body position, etc. It can often be transient. Pathological proteinuria needs to be taken seriously and is more common in nephrotic syndrome, interstitial nephritis, glomerulonephritis and diabetic nephropathy. In summary, urine protein is not necessarily a kidney disease, need to further clarify the examination, mildly positive or suspicious positive do not be too nervous, improve further examination, clear urine protein cause, early treatment, can not miss the disease.
