If the cough is combined with a scratchy throat, consider that the most common possibility is chronic pharyngitis, or upper airway syndrome caused by a cold. Cough caused by these two diseases, although the symptoms are relatively heavy, the so-called heavy is the frequency and degree of coughing is heavier. If it is caused by these two diseases, it just affects the quality of life, but it is not a serious disease. If the cough is combined with a scratchy throat for a longer period of time you need to go ahead and rule out some of the lung diseases that cause it, such as bronchial tuberculosis, bronchial foreign bodies, or even lung tumors. These more serious lung diseases do not necessarily cause a scratchy throat, but may be combined together. So a chest X-ray or CT scan, or even a bronchoscopy is needed to rule out these comorbidities after a long period of time.
