Checking the head depends on the patient’s age and symptoms to decide what tests to do. Young patients with no previous specific underlying diseases, just dizziness and lightheadedness can do TCD tests. Older patients with previous risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia and long-term heavy smoking and drinking, with slurred speech, numbness of limbs, weakness, dizziness and headache should have a cranial CT or MRI. Patients with previous epilepsy need to take oral antiepileptic drugs or need to adjust their medication because of recurrent seizure symptoms, and have their heads examined with cranial MRI and EEG.
