Does a perforated eardrum bleed?

When a patient has a perforated eardrum, it may bleed, but usually the amount of bleeding is not too much, and is more likely to be traumatic. A small amount of blood may leak out of the eardrum into the external ear canal, which may be manifested as a small amount of bleeding in the ear canal, along with a degree of stuffiness and congestion in the ear, hearing loss and tinnitus. In addition, some patients may have perforated eardrums due to acute suppurative otitis media. In this case, there is usually no obvious bleeding in the ear, but the patient may experience more intense ear pain, and after the eardrum is perforated, more purulent discharge will flow from the ear canal.
