In the case of bile duct stones, a bile drainage tube (so-called T-tube) is usually placed during surgery, which often needs to be retained for more than 3 weeks, causing great inconvenience to the patient’s life, and in case of accidental dislodgement, it may cause biliary peritonitis, and in serious cases, the tube needs to be placed again. In addition, the large amount of bile flowing out of the body every day may cause weakness, dizziness and loss of appetite. In recent years, we have successfully carried out minimally invasive treatment of bile duct stones by making a few small holes in the abdominal wall and using laparoscopy and choledochoscopy to remove bile duct stones without placing bile drains, which greatly facilitates patients’ life and eliminates the need to worry about the tube coming off all day long and reduces the occurrence of water-electrolyte imbalance in patients.
