The median survival of grade IV glioma is clinically experienced to be around 15 months.
Glioma grade IV is a highly malignant brain tumor. In some patients, if the tumor is large and edema is obvious, located in the functional area, or if the patient is old and weak, even after surgery and postoperative radiotherapy, the glioma may recur quickly and grow rapidly, and the patient’s survival may only be 3~6 months.
However, if some patients are young and in good health, the tumor is located in non-functional area and the resection is complete, and the patients have a good mindset and can cooperate with the doctor to complete further postoperative radiotherapy treatment, the survival period of these patients may reach 1~2 years.
In addition, low-grade gliomas may also be converted to grade IV after recurrence, and their malignancy degree is often slightly lower than that of primary glioblastoma, and the survival period after corresponding treatment is often slightly longer.
For patients with grade IV glioma, it is recommended to go to the neurosurgery and oncology departments of regular hospitals for consultation and timely and relevant treatments for individual specific conditions.
