The treatment of migraine by TCM includes the following five types: 1. Liver-Yang hyperactivity: these patients are often emotionally tense, with a strong string pulse, and are generally treated with the addition and subtraction of Ping Liver San; 2. Liver-Kidney-Yin deficiency: in addition to migraine, kidney-yin deficiency manifestations such as back pain, insomnia and tinnitus are also seen, and are mainly treated with the addition and subtraction of Da Yuan Qi Tang; 3. Qi-Blood deficiency: nourishing Qi and Blood is the main focus, and is mainly treated with the addition and subtraction of Yang He Tang; 4. Wind-Phlegm stagnation: is generally treated with the addition and subtraction of Han Xia Bai Zhu Tian Ma Tang; 5. Stasis-Blood blockage: is mainly for long-standing cases, and is seen with astringent pulse, yellow face, deficiency of Qi and Blood, and stasis of Blood, and is mainly treated with the addition and subtraction of Tong Qiao Wu Blood Tang.
