The vagina is an elastic, tube-like organ that serves as a conduit between the uterus and the vulva, for sexual intercourse and for the discharge of menstrual blood and the delivery of the fetus. The vagina is 7-9 cm long at the anterior wall and 9-12 cm long at the posterior wall, and the hymen is attached to the external vaginal opening, which usually breaks during the first sexual intercourse. During a gynecological examination, the vaginal walls can be opened with a dilator and the surface of the vagina can be observed. There are many vaginal folds, which are very stretchy and can accommodate the passage of the fetal head and body during labor and gradually retract after delivery. The uterine cavity, cervix and vaginal secretions are discharged through here. Usually pay attention to perineal cleanliness and hygiene, wear cotton breathable underwear and wash and change them regularly.
