Can you get thyroid cancer with a normal thyroid function?

It is possible to get thyroid cancer with normal thyroid function.
Thyroid cancer is a malignant tumor originating from the follicular epithelial or parafollicular epithelial cells of the thyroid gland. The cause of the disease is still unclear, but studies have shown that it may be related to oncogenes, ionizing radiation, iodine intake, age, gender and other factors.
The incidence of thyroid cancer is higher in patients with abnormal thyroid function, such as adenomatous goiter, hyperfunctional goiter, thyroid tumor, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. However, it does not mean that people with normal thyroid function will not develop thyroid cancer.
Early stage of thyroid cancer patients usually do not have obvious symptoms, but as the tumor grows, it can be manifested as neck lumps and neck pain when it presses the neighboring tissues. It is recommended that people have regular medical checkups to detect abnormalities in time for early diagnosis and treatment.
