Patellofemoral joint dysplasia is treated with conservative and surgical treatments.
The patellofemoral joint is the joint formed by the patella and the femur carriage. Patellofemoral dysplasia manifests as pain behind the patella, which can be exacerbated by squatting, going up and down stairs, bicycling uphill, and other exercises that require strong contraction of the quadriceps muscle.
1. Conservative treatment: avoid or reduce the activities that cause joint pain, such as squatting, going up and down the stairs, riding a bicycle uphill, etc., and use bandages or lightweight supports to protect them; perform isometric contraction exercises with the knee in the straightened position; and take oral non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as Loxoprofen to treat the pain.
2. Surgery: the main treatment is to remove the diseased cartilage up to the subchondral bone. Or tibial tuberosity elevation, tibial tuberosity displacement, patelloplasty, osteotomy, patellar bone marrow decompression, patellar partial resection, arthroscopic surgery and so on.
When the appearance of patellofemoral dysplasia should be the first time to the hospital, the mild choice of conservative treatment, the severe choice of surgical treatment.
