The arteries are distributed throughout the body, starting from the heart and gradually branching out from the aorta from thick to thin. The thoracic and abdominal aorta is mainly located in the spine. The thoracoabdominal aorta is mainly located in the anterior left side of the spine, and the arteries of the extremities are distributed medially and deeply, mostly symmetrically, with venous accompaniment. The pulmonary artery is unique in that although it is called an artery, it originates from the right ventricular outflow tract and draws venous blood into the lungs, while it is arterial blood in the pulmonary veins that enters the left atrium. The arteries that are easily palpable on the body surface include the facial artery at the anterior border of the masticatory muscle of the jaw, the superficial temporal artery in front of the ear screen, the carotid artery in the neck, the axillary artery in the axilla, the brachial artery in the elbow fossa, the radial artery on the wrist, the ulnar artery, the femoral artery in the groin, the popliteal artery in the popliteal fossa, and the dorsalis pedis artery.
