Are atypical cytopathic lesions of thyroid nodules serious?

Atypical cytopathic lesions of thyroid nodules are the result of puncture pathology and are usually not serious if they are benign, but more serious if they are malignant. Atypical cytopathic lesions of thyroid nodules belong to the benign-malignant junction stage and may be benign. This type of thyroid nodule atypical cell lesion is usually not serious and can be cured with timely treatment without threatening the patient’s life. However, in addition to benign lesions, thyroid nodal atypical cellular lesions may also be malignant, with a probability of roughly 30%. This type of thyroid nodule is more serious and may belong to precancerous thyroid lesion or thyroid cancer. If not treated in time, the swelling will gradually increase in size, and the cancer cells may metastasize or spread to other parts of the body, which may be life threatening. If the analysis of atypical cellular lesion of thyroid nodule is not clear, it is recommended to have regular review, combined with imaging examination and puncture pathology biopsy to clarify the nature of the tumor.
