Differential diagnosis of localized swelling and deformity of the thighs

Localized swelling and deformation of the thigh is one of the symptoms of femur fracture, femur fracture with localized swelling and deformation of the thigh are serious, the lower limb is shortened, and there are obvious abnormal activities and bone rubbing sound when moving. It is one of the most common fractures in clinic, accounting for about 6% of systemic fractures. Femur is the longest and largest bone in human body, and it is one of the main weight-bearing bones of the lower limbs, which will cause deformity and dysfunction of the lower limbs if not treated properly. History of trauma, localized swelling and deformation of the thigh are serious, lower limb shortening, obvious abnormal activity and bone rubbing sound when moving. Blood pressure, pulse and respiration should be routinely measured to determine whether there is shock or other systemic complications and complex injuries of important organs; at the same time, the color, temperature and extension/flexion activities of the toes should be carefully examined to determine whether there is any major vascular and/or neurological injury. A few patients may be combined with femoral neck fracture or hip dislocation, which should not be missed during physical examination. X-ray positive and lateral radiographs can be taken to clarify the site, type and displacement characteristics of the fracture as a basis for treatment. Differential diagnosis of localized swelling and deformation of thigh: 1, soft tissue injury of muscles around femoral stem, mainly manifested as muscle pulling injury, sprain, laceration, etc., with localized swelling and pressure pain of the injured muscles, positive resistance test, slightly limited activity of the lower limb, no longitudinal axis percussion pain, and no bone friction sound or abnormal activity of the thigh. 2.Intertrochanteric femoral fracture This type of fracture is seen between the large and small rotors of the femur, and is easy to identify.
