The methods of intestinal polyp removal are broadly divided into 2 categories: 1. transendoscopic resection; 2. surgical resection. There are also many surgical procedures for transendoscopic resection, including endoscopic colectomy, endoscopic electrocautery, and endoscopic mucosal dissection or endoscopic mucosal resection. When there is a suspicion of local malignancy or infiltration of polyps, or if the polyps are very large and cannot be removed cleanly under endoscopy, patients need to consider surgical resection, and those close to the anus can be removed by transanal surgery, while those far from the anus cannot be removed by transanal surgery can be considered by laparoscopic resection.
