Early manifestations of cerebral palsy

  Normal newborns (especially low birth weight babies) are prone to “agitation” and “sensitivity” when they are hungry, but newborns with cerebral palsy are prone to this phenomenon even when they are not hungry.  Some parents even say, “This child cries all night long. About 30% of the children with cerebral palsy have severe colic-like symptoms within 3 months after birth, with sudden and violent crying.  3. Frequent spitting, often with the mouth half open and the tongue constantly sticking out, with little or a lot of stereotypical movements. This symptom of pediatric cerebral palsy is often an early symptom of tardive dyskinesia.  4. Difficulty in caring for the child, as shown by the difficulty in inserting the arms into the sleeves when dressing, the difficulty in extending the thighs when changing diapers, and the difficulty in breaking the fists when bathing. Parents often report that “children do not like bathing” when their feet just touch the edge of the tub or the water surface. The back is immediately stiff and bowed.  The symptoms of neonatal cerebral palsy are also manifested as “sensitivity” to sudden sound or position change, like a frightened state.  6. Difficulty in feeding, uncoordinated sucking and swallowing, sometimes parents report that the milk is “dripping out of the mouth while eating”. Weight gain is difficult.  7.Motor development is lagging behind, 3-4 months old can’t lift head prone, 4 months old still can’t support weight with forearm; 6-7 months can’t roll over, 9-10 can’t crawl, muscle tone is not normal and posture is not normal, sitting posture and crawling posture are different from normal children.  8, abnormal reflexes, put something into the hand, the child will grasp the reaction, to 3 months after the disappearance, if it has not disappeared is not normal.  9. If there is a history of prematurity, asphyxia, low birth weight, intrauterine infection, preterm abortion, severe jaundice, abnormal pregnancy history, family genetics, etc., the child may have cerebral palsy.
