Nutritional support after pancreaticoduodenectomy

For pancreaticoduodenectomy, a common surgical procedure in pancreatic surgery, part of the stomach, gallbladder, duodenum, head of the pancreas, regional lymphatic drainage is removed, and then pancreatic-jejunum, bile-jejunum, and gastrojejunum anastomoses are performed, so the patient’s digestive tract is burdened and has to be “lined up” again. The first and foremost thing is nutrition. Many patients are eager to strengthen their nutrition after surgery, without taking into account the actual situation, and all kinds of supplements are taken, causing an increase in the gastrointestinal burden. The principle: eat less and more meals, easy to digest, meat and vegetables, appropriate supplementation of pancreatic enzymes, while strengthening exercise, such as jogging or walking and so on. Keep urine and stool open every day, make sure to drink more water one hour before going to bed, no residual food in the upper abdominal gastrointestinal area, and reduce the occurrence of postoperative cholangitis.
