Early stage lung cancer can be cured through surgery and comprehensive treatment, and most of them do not affect life expectancy and can live beyond 30 years. Early stage lung cancer refers to those with single tumor and no nearby lymph nodes or distant metastasis. After surgical resection and post-operative radiotherapy and chemotherapy, the survival rate of those with tumor diameter less than 3.5cm exceeds 50% in 5 years after surgery. For those with larger tumors, more than 3.5 cm or with nearby lymph node metastases, the recurrence rate is higher after palliative surgical resection, usually within 1-2 years, and after radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment, the survival rate at 5 years after surgery is lower.
