Swelling on one side of the eyelid and non-swelling on the other side of the eyelid may be caused by insect bite reaction, granuloma, acute dacryoadenitis and other diseases, which need to be treated with general measures, medication and surgery according to the cause of the disease. 1. Insect bite reaction: the common symptom is that the skin lesions are red, swollen and erythematous. Patients can put ice packs on the bites, wash with water, use local glycerine lotion and glucocorticosteroids such as clobetasol propionate cream and mometasone furoate cream as prescribed by the doctor, and use antihistamines such as cetirizine and loratadine as prescribed by the doctor if the symptoms are severe. 2. Granuloma: Typical symptoms are one side of the eye blood red, swelling, heat, pain and other manifestations. Patients can apply hot compresses to the eye, use levofloxacin eye drops, erythromycin ophthalmic ointment and other antibiotics as prescribed by the doctor, and severe symptoms need to be prescribed oral or intramuscular ceftriaxone, azithromycin and other antibiotics. If there is a refractory abscess, consider making an incision to drain the abscess. 3. Acute dacryoadenitis: It is mainly manifested as a sudden onset of redness, swelling and pain on one side of the eye. Patients can also relieve the discomfort by applying hot compresses. For bacterial infections, antibiotic eye drops such as tobramycin and ofloxacin should be used, and for viral infections, antiviral eye drops such as acyclovir and ganciclovir should be used. For patients with abscess formation, incision and drainage should be taken in time. It is recommended that patients with double eyelids swollen on one side and not swollen on the other go to the hospital and cooperate with the doctor to actively treat the primary disease.
