The population is generally susceptible to novel pneumonia. The elderly and those with underlying diseases are more ill and should be concerned, and children and infants also develop the disease. The incubation period of novel pneumonia is generally 3-7 days, with a maximum of 14 days. Fever, malaise, and dry cough are the main manifestations of the infection, with a few patients having symptoms such as nasal congestion, runny nose, and diarrhea. Some patients showed only low fever and mild malaise without pneumonia manifestations, and mostly recovered after 1 week. From the cases admitted so far, most of the patients have a good prognosis, with relatively mild symptoms in children and a few patients in critical condition. Most of the fatal cases were seen in the elderly and those with chronic underlying diseases.
