There are two main clinical conditions in which swallowing something and ear pain can occur. The first case is when the patient’s main disease is the pharynx, which commonly includes acute pharyngitis, acute tonsillitis, parapharyngeal infection, peri-tonsillitis and other such things. When the patient swallows, the pharyngeal nerve radiates to the ear, and a painful sensation in the ear occurs. When the ear examination is done clinically, there is no problem with the ear, no auricular pulling pain, no redness or swelling of the ear canal, and no congestion of the eardrum, so this condition is mainly treated by treating the inflammatory infection in the pharynx. The second type of disease is when the patient experiences both pain in the throat and pain in the ear when swallowing. This is a common cause of sore throat and ear pain when swallowing, for example, during a cold. Clinical examination reveals congestion of the eardrum, or redness and swelling of the ear canal, and so on, and generally in this case both diseases need to be treated simultaneously.
