Hello patients and families, I am Dr. Hao Wu. If you are willing to see me, I hope you will read the following text first, there are some conditions need to be explained, if you understand and agree with my point of view, please come to see me, if you feel unacceptable, I remind you have the right to choose other doctors.    If I have the chance to see you, first of all I would like to thank you for your trust. We have a common goal, but our roles are different and we need to understand and support each other. As a doctor, I will do my best to find ways to relieve your pain, and at the same time, I will provide some free measures to try to facilitate your medical behavior. However, I am limited in my ability, and it is unlikely that I will be able to cure you easily at once, let alone guarantee your health for the rest of your life. I am an ordinary person like you, not an all-powerful god who saves the suffering, so please do not mythologize me and medicine. Wu Hao, Department of Oncology, Guang’anmen Hospital, Chinese Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine Medical science has not reached the end of development, and not all diseases can be cured, especially malignant tumor patients, according to the natural course of the disease, the situation will only get worse and worse, please understand these circumstances. Moreover, there is another characteristic of malignant tumor, that is, the progress of disease and symptoms are not parallel. I certainly understand your eagerness to cure your disease. Therefore, I need to remind you that a good treatment at the beginning does not mean a straight road ahead, so please do not take the disease lightly or be overly optimistic; on the other hand, a lack of good treatment at the beginning does not mean a bad treatment in the future, so please do not be overly pessimistic. I will not give up lightly, especially for patients with advanced disease, and I will try to relieve patients’ pain if I can.    As an oncologist, I would also like to remind you that many of the methods and drugs we use to treat tumors have certain toxic side effects, whether it is Chinese medicine or Western medicine. However, I will try to put myself in the position of the patient and family to weigh the pros and cons arising from the treatment, inform the situation truthfully, and give my advice. This is only my advice, and you have the right to choose whether to accept it or not. I will also respect your choice. However, once you have chosen treatment, please be at peace with the associated side effects. I will do my best to help you mitigate the toxic side effects, but due to my limited ability to do so, it is impossible to completely avoid them. If you do not agree with this, please do not choose me as your doctor; you have the right to choose any doctor you want, and I will give you my blessing.    Regarding the issue of telemedicine, the free medical consultation that I sacrifice my time off to volunteer for you is not included in the registration fee you pay. My initial intention is that through the internet and my efforts, I can solve your problem in a timely manner and try to avoid delaying your condition. However, the Internet is not a place for medical practice. For prescription adjustment and disease treatment, face-to-face consultation is the best option if you want to obtain good results. For patients with stable conditions, I am happy to help and try to take care of you so that you can travel less, but it is not my obligation to help you get medical treatment off-site, especially when there are many patients and a large workload, my limited energy can only take care of online patients after the face-to-face patients are treated. I think you can understand this. In addition, for many patients, my help may not be thoughtful enough, which is also a limitation of the medical environment, and I ask for your understanding.    In order for the treatment process to go smoothly, I ask that you provide as much detailed information as possible, especially previous medical records and prescriptions. This is very important. Without seeing the patient and the medical records, without the patient’s tongue and pulse, without knowing the patient’s specific symptoms, without knowing the recent tests and pathology, it is hard to imagine that any doctor can prescribe a highly targeted prescription with stable efficacy. So please make sure you keep them safe and remember to bring them with you to your follow-up appointments. Otherwise the important information fed back from your previous treatment will not be helpful for the later treatment, and our treatment may take a wrong turn. Usually, the prescription contains my years of clinical accumulation, moreover, there is a comprehensive assessment of the patient’s physical condition, changes in condition, and treatment, and it is only when the doctor and patient cooperate with each other that the prescription is made. If you respect my work and want to get better results, please bring all the information to an interview.    As a doctor, I am grateful for the online platform to bridge the communication between me and my patients. I will respond to my patients’ questions as soon as possible, and most of them are voluntary. But I also ask my patients to value my labor and please read my online articles first, where there are common questions that I have answered carefully. If there is a question that is not in the article, you can ask me, but don’t ask the same question over and over again. I hope that through my efforts more patients will get effective help.    Finally, I wish you all a speedy recovery.
