Hyperplastic nodules on the liver are usually produced by the proliferation of fibrous tissue caused by the damage and necrosis of liver cells. The common clinical diseases that cause hepatocyte destruction and hyperplasia are cirrhosis and hepatic adenoma. 1. Cirrhosis. Cirrhosis is the most common cause of nodules on the liver, in which patients have atrophy and death of liver cells and abnormal proliferation of liver fibrous tissue, resulting in hyperplastic nodules. 2. Hepatic adenoma. Hepatic adenoma is a rare benign liver tumor that can cause hyperplastic nodules on the liver. It is currently thought that it may be related to the use of contraceptive pills.
