Bilateral hip replacement is a more traumatic surgery, and the operation time is usually determined by the patient’s condition. For conventional bilateral hip replacement, it usually takes less than 40 minutes for unilateral replacement, and roughly 1.5 hours for bilateral. In addition, depending on the patient’s condition, such as ankylosis of the joint, the cleaning of the bone capillaries of the joint, loosening of the joint, and reconstruction of the acetabulum may take longer. If the hip is completely ankylosed, the general condition of bilateral replacement may be 40 minutes to 1 hour. Assuming that the hip requires acetabular reconstruction, unilateral replacement may generally take 1-1.5 hours. Simultaneous bilateral replacement is generally not recommended, as it may increase the surgical trauma and cause serious complications, and is usually performed simultaneously for conventional replacement. Assuming hip dysplasia and complete osteoarthritis of the hip joint, the replacement will be done in stages to avoid trauma. Assuming that the need for bilateral replacement through release and acetabular reconstruction exceeds 2 hours, it is generally not recommended.
