Adenoid hypertrophy is most often seen in children and may present with nasal congestion, open-mouth breathing, snoring, stuffy ears, ear pain, hearing loss, etc. In the long run, adenoid facies may be present, as well as irritability and slow growth.
Adenoid facies, i.e., misaligned teeth, elongated jaws, high arched palate, protruding upper incisors, thick lips, and lack of facial expression. In addition to this, patients may also present with irritability, obstructive sleep apnea, unresponsiveness, inattention, lethargy, growth retardation, and cognitive impairment.
