Is high blood sugar diabetes?

High blood glucose is not necessarily diabetes, and the diagnosis needs to be made according to the degree of high blood glucose, and cannot be generalized. Usually, if the blood sugar is mildly elevated, fasting blood sugar is between 6.1-7mmol/L, and postprandial blood sugar is less than 7.8mmol/L, the diagnosis of diabetes mellitus has not yet been reached, which may be due to the recent intake of too much fat-rich and sugar-rich food, and it is not diabetes mellitus, so you can continue to observe. However, if the fasting blood glucose is less than 7mmol/L and the oral glucose tolerance test result shows that the blood glucose is between 7.8-11.1mmol/L, then it is impaired glucose tolerance. The patient may be in the pre-diabetic stage or already have diabetes, which requires the patient’s full attention, regular monitoring and visit to the endocrinology department of the hospital for relevant treatment. Patients with diabetes and hyperglycemia should pay attention to their diet, avoiding foods with high sugar content, eating reasonably, quitting smoking and drinking, and paying attention to rest.
