Purulent tonsillitis heals in a few days

Purulent tonsillitis is usually caused by bacterial infection and can gradually return to normal after 1 week of treatment.

Purulent tonsillitis is a common clinical infection of the upper respiratory tract. The main causative agents are Streptococcus haemolyticus, Haemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pneumoniae and Staphylococcus aureus. The disease occurs in spring and autumn, and often develops when the immune system is depressed due to temperature changes, exertion, and cold. Children and adolescents are the main groups with symptoms such as high fever, chills, and sore throat. Clinical treatment is based on the principle of removing the focal pathogenic bacteria, and oral medication or intravenous drip is decided according to the severity of the patient’s condition.

In addition, if the patient is allergic to penicillin and cephalosporin, macrolide antibiotics such as azithromycin can be used for anti-infection treatment.
