A hernia without a bulge can usually be seen on ultrasound as well.
A hernia is when an organ or tissue in the body leaves its normal anatomical position and enters another part of the body through a congenital or acquired weakness, defect or hole. Common hernias include umbilical hernia, inguinal hernia, hiatal hernia, incisional hernia, etc. Even if the hernia does not appear to be an obvious mass, abnormalities of the abdominal wall can often be detected under ultrasound, so ultrasound can usually detect it.
If the hernia is not treated in time, the hernia mass may gradually increase in size, leading to aggravation of symptoms, and may even become incarcerated or strangulated, which may threaten the patient’s life. Therefore, the patient should be treated as soon as possible under the guidance of a doctor, such as using medical hernia belts or maneuvering to reset the hernia, and also surgical treatments, such as tension-free hernia repair, and trans-laparoscopic hernia repair, and so on.
Patients with hernias should go to the hospital and follow the doctor’s instructions to take appropriate treatment measures.
