There is no guarantee that papillary thyroid cancer will not recur after surgery and iodine 131 treatment, but the chance of recurrence can be reduced through regular review.
Papillary thyroid cancer is caused by hormone, heredity, environment and other factors. After diagnosis, it can be treated by surgery and iodine 131 radiation therapy, and the early prognosis is better after treatment, and the five-year survival rate can reach 90%. Although the pathological type of nail and breast cancer is relatively good, it is still a malignant tumor and there is still a possibility of recurrence after treatment.
Therefore, regular rechecking should be done as prescribed by doctor after surgery, such as every 3 months for 1~3 years; every 6 months for 3~5 years; and every 1 year thereafter. Keeping away from radiation etc. on a daily basis can effectively reduce recurrence and prolong survival time.
