Surgical treatment of hernia

Hernia mostly occurs in middle-aged and elderly people, but many people do not have the correct understanding of hernia, so the best time for treatment is delayed, thus aggravating the pain of patients. After years of research, we have concluded that people’s misconceptions about hernia and related scientific interpretation have the following points. I. Negative attitude toward hernia treatment Thinking that hernia is not painful, does not delay eating and drinking, and does not need treatment. It is not known that with the prolongation of the disease, the hernia will become bigger and bigger, and once the hernia is ingrown, it will be life-threatening and the risk of surgery will be greatly increased. Second, hope to achieve cure by conservative treatment Conservative treatment can only temporarily relieve the symptoms, and no medicine or hernia belt can cure it. Hernia is a defect in the abdominal wall, and surgery is the only way to cure it. Third, fear of surgery Most hernia patients have never had surgery in their lives and have a fear of surgery. But the fact is that in our hospital, for example, the day surgery for tension-free hernia repair under local anesthesia carried out is less traumatic, has less postoperative pain, does not require fasting and lowering of the urinary catheter, does not require infusion and drug change, and has an average hospital stay of only 2.5 days. The average hospital stay is only 2.5 days. There is no high requirement for concomitant underlying diseases (heart, brain, lung, kidney, liver and other chronic diseases) and age; IV. Fear of recurrence Director Wang always follows the principle of individualization, and the surgical method and repair materials are determined according to the specific conditions of patients, thus minimizing the recurrence rate and complications after surgery. V. Fear of postoperative foreign body sensation The various materials used in surgery have basically been used in the human body for 50 years, and their comfort and safety can meet the individual needs of different types of patients (including young and middle-aged patients and elderly patients due to their different physical conditions and life needs). Sixth, the fear of spending money Hernia mostly occurs in the elderly, when most patients have left retirement and have reduced income. The day surgery carried out in our hospital minimizes hospitalization time (most patients do not need to be hospitalized) and all kinds of related costs, which is completely acceptable to most patients. Some elderly patients, when they find a mass near their external genitalia, are unwilling to inform their family members or seek medical attention, and suffer in silence. When the occurrence of embedded intonation only to go to the emergency room, not only suffer, the risk of surgery, the cost and the chances of failure are also very large. Reminder: We should pay attention to hernia in our life, such as once the disease occurs in young people, we should pay attention to choose the appropriate surgery and repair material to ensure that it does not affect the reproductive function (our hospital has rich clinical experience in such patients and the postoperative results are satisfactory). For elderly patients over 60 years old, if you find a hard lump protruding from your lower abdomen, or if you have pain after heavy physical work, you should beware of this, which means your body has already developed a hernia, and you must get out of the misunderstanding and treat it as soon as possible, so as not to delay the best time for diagnosis and treatment and avoid the vicious circle of disease. In addition, you should exercise properly, enhance the elasticity of the abdominal wall muscles, and actively treat diseases related to increased abdominal pressure, such as liver preservation and diuretic treatment after the production of ascites in cirrhosis, in order to facilitate the reduction or elimination of ascites. Chronic bronchitis should be treated systematically to reduce the increased abdominal pressure caused by coughing. Those who have difficulty in urination should be checked for prostatic hyperplasia, and the obstruction should be lifted through surgery. Elderly people with constipation symptoms should pay attention to dietary regulation and maintain regular bowel movements, and if the slow output type obstruction is caused by intestinal occupational lesions or intestinal hypofunction, they should be treated more actively.
