The following precautions should be taken for pituitary MRI plain scan: First, the doctor should be fully informed whether there are metal objects present in the body, and patients with metal teeth can be removed as much as possible, because metallic things can interfere with the magnetic field causing artifacts. Secondly, patients with pacemakers cannot do pituitary MRI. Third, for patients with fractures with metal internal fixations, pituitary MRI is also not recommended. Fourth, for patients with stents placed in the skull or heart vessels, the MRI results and clarity are not affected. Fifth, MRI does not require fasting, that is, it can be done on an empty stomach or after a meal. Sixth, patients with claustrophobic syndrome should inform the doctor in advance that MRI is not recommended, and if necessary, sedation should be given to cooperate with the smooth conduct of the examination. Seventh, the cooperation of the child should be obtained when performing MRI of the pituitary gland in children, and sedatives should be given if necessary.
