Is a 3-millimeter lung nodule serious?

Whether a 3-mm lung nodule is serious or not depends mainly on the nature of the nodule. If the lung nodules are caused by malignant tumors, the condition is comparatively more serious than those caused by benign diseases such as tuberculosis and lung misshapen tumors.
A 3 mm pulmonary nodule is a nodular lesion with a diameter of 3 mm within the tissues of the lungs. Depending on the pathological nature of the nodule, it can be categorized into two different types: benign and malignant pulmonary nodules.
If a 3-mm nodule is malignant, it indicates the development of lung cancer or metastatic lung cancer, and the individual’s condition is more serious, requiring a combination of surgical treatments as prescribed by the doctor.
However, if the lung nodules are benign, such as tuberculosis and lung malignant tumors, patients can usually be cured by standardized treatment, and then the condition is not as serious as compared to malignant lung nodules.
If a 3 mm nodule is found in the lung, further examination should be conducted to clarify the diagnosis, and then a targeted treatment plan should be formulated and implemented.
