Hydrogen peroxide used for ear cleaning is mostly a 3% hydrogen peroxide solution, which is not harmful when used reasonably for cleaning the external auditory canal. However, excessive cleaning of the external auditory canal may cause diffuse otitis externa, eczema of the external auditory canal and fungal otitis externa.
1. Diffuse otitis externa: when overuse of this product to clean the external auditory canal, it can lead to the destruction of the acidic environment of the external auditory canal, weakening the ability to resist infection, which in turn leads to diffuse otitis externa.
2. Eczema of the external auditory canal: after cleaning the external auditory canal with 3% hydrogen peroxide solution, the higher temperature and oxidative stimulation produced by the solution can lead to a stress reaction of the skin of the external auditory canal, resulting in plasma exudation, blister formation and other eczema-like reactions.
3. Fungal otitis externa: after the product plays a role in the external auditory canal, the remaining moisture, if not evaporated or discharged in time, can accumulate in the ear canal, which is conducive to the growth of fungi, causing fungal otitis externa to occur.
3% hydrogen peroxide solution has disinfecting and sterilizing effects, it is a strong oxidizing agent, and the ozone decomposed by hydrogen peroxide also has sterilizing effects, which can be used to clean the external ear canal. It is mostly used for otitis media, external ear canal trauma and other disease states. It needs to be used in accordance with medical advice to avoid blind use, resulting in the above disease states.
