There are currently western medications that specialize in chronic colitis.
Chronic colitis belongs to the inflammatory bowel disease, the treatment of chronic colitis drugs are aminosalicylic acid preparations, glucocorticoids, immunosuppressants and so on.
1. Aminosalicylic acid preparations: commonly used are 5-aminosalicylic acid preparations and salicylazosulfapyridine, which can be used for inducing remission and maintenance treatment of mild and moderate colitis.
2. Glucocorticosteroids: such as prednisone, methylprednisolone and hydrocortisone are commonly used as the first choice of therapeutic agents for moderate and severe patients who do not respond well to 5-aminosalicylic acid. After the control of colitis symptoms should be gradually reduced to stop the drug. In addition, glucocorticosteroids should not be used for a long time, and must follow the doctor’s instructions.
3. Immunosuppressive drugs: including azathioprine and mercaptopurine, used for 5-aminosalicylic acid maintenance therapy is not effective, repeated symptoms of colitis and hormone dependence of maintenance therapy.
Colitis patients should be under the guidance of a doctor, according to the severity of the disease, the lesion site selection of appropriate therapeutic drugs.
