Arrhythmia in children can be caused by physiological factors or pathologic factors such as viral myocarditis or congenital heart disease, etc. The main treatments include general treatment, medication and surgery.
1. Physiological factors:In children without organic heart disease, nervousness, fatigue, autonomic dysfunction can induce changes in respiratory rhythm, which can cause respiratory arrhythmia. It can be relieved by rest, adequate sleep, nutrition and other general treatments. If the arrhythmia is persistent, the patient should consult a doctor for examination and treatment under the guidance of the doctor.
2. Viral myocarditis: Viral infection causes limited or diffuse inflammatory lesions in the myocardium, and impaired function of the sinus node and/or atrioventricular node, which can cause arrhythmia in children. Patients need bed rest and medications such as coenzyme Q10 and vitamin C as prescribed. Surgery is needed for third degree AV block and ventricular tachycardia.
3. Congenital heart disease: children with abnormal development of heart and large blood vessels, inducing abnormal electrical activity of the heart, which can cause arrhythmia. Pay attention to rest, avoid exertion, and take propranolol, metoprolol and other drugs as prescribed by the doctor. Surgery is needed for atrial septal defects with large shunt volume and tetralogy of Fallot.
Children with arrhythmia need to go to a specialized hospital for examination and treatment to avoid sudden death, malignant arrhythmia and other dangers.
