There are two kinds of high blood glucose in postpartum, one is gestational diabetes, which can be recovered in 6-12 weeks after delivery; the other is the pregnant woman herself is a diabetic, which cannot be recovered and needs lifelong treatment.1. Gestational diabetes: normal blood glucose before pregnancy, abnormal blood glucose after pregnancy, fasting blood glucose ≥ 5.1 mmol/L, 1 hour postprandial blood glucose > 10.0 mmol/L, 2 hours postprandial blood glucose > 8.5 mmol/L, as long as the above three points are met, it is gestational diabetes. If any of the above three points are met, gestational diabetes is considered. Most of them can return to normal in 6-12 weeks after delivery, but a few people need six months after delivery to return to normal. If you have symptoms of drinking more, eating more, and urinating more during pregnancy, along with blurred vision and itching and tingling of vulva, you should be alert to the possibility of gestational diabetes, but most gestational diabetes patients have no obvious clinical manifestations. 2. Diabetic patients: diabetes is a lifelong disease, if you have diabetes before pregnancy, you cannot recover after delivery, but you can control your blood sugar through medication and daily care. And if gestational diabetes is prolonged, it may also be transformed into diabetes and cannot be recovered. Gestational diabetes should be detected, diagnosed and treated early to achieve strict blood sugar control. Especially for high-risk groups, such as overweight, long-term high sugar and fat, family history of diabetes or older pregnant women over 35 years old, regular blood glucose screening should be performed during pregnancy, and for those who have suspected diabetes manifestations, timely consultation should be made to clarify the diagnosis.
